This dry rose belongs in the company of the world's finest rose wines. It is fleshy Grenache blended with 10% Viognier for spice and floral notes. Ned Swain, from Devenish wines described it in the following way:
"The aroma is pretty strawberry and rhubarb fruit that straddles the line between elegant and powerful. Peeking out behind the fruit is a whiff of caramel and gingerbread baked goods; not in a sweet way, in a rich spice kind of way.
On the palate the wine is a beautifully balanced symphony of ripe strawberry, fresh rhubarb, raw Cinnamon, and a hint of the spice of crystallized ginger. The wine has good acidity, but plenty of depths underneath. The finish is quite long and mildly peppery."The winemaker is our friend Rollie Heitz, who graciously gave us our original four-frame extractor (which is now available for lending at the Honey Exchange.)
Only about 300 cases of this wine were produced. We got one and it's not going to be around for long.
